Fundraisers

About Fundraising

The Mountaineers rely heavily on both corporate sponsorship and fundraising to meet the financial obligations of the club. Everything from league fees, to equipment, to practice times must be paid for by the players directly, so anything we can do to off-set those fees are critical.

In 2010 the Mountaineers have 2 major in-season fundraisers planned. Read below for complete details, and thank you for your support of these events.

3rd Annual Reverse Lottery

The Mountaineers are very excited to once again host the 3rd Annual Reverse Lottery. This years version of the lottery introduces a new fundraising partner to the initiative, the Sr Knights.

That's correct, the Knights. On the floor the two clubs are bitter rivals but off the floor the clubs will do anything and everything to raise money, including working together. In addition to the Knights, the Sr B Mountaineers are also a fundraising partner, so the event brings in a diverse group of supporters, all of whom always have a great time.

What is it?
A "Reverse Lottery" (also called a Reverse Draw) is one of the most unique, and fun, fundraising events out there. Here's how it works: The name of each ticket holder is placed on a large name bar, and that name bar goes on a giant board (the event board) at the event. In addition, each ticket holders name is written on their ticket stubb, and that stubb is placed into a secure barrel, the draw-barrel, from which names can be drawn out by the event referee.

What happens next is the interesting part. When a name is drawn out of the barrel it is also removed from the giant name board. The last name drawn wins the grande prize. Now of course, there are many cash and gift prizes given out throughout the evening. For instance, the poor sap whos name is drawn out first gets a full refund, and subsequent cash and gift prizes are given out every 25 names or so.

Where the real action is though is in the crowd. You see, you're not stuck with just your ticket. If you want, you are free to wheel-and-deal for partnerships and buyouts with other ticket holders whenever and wherever you can. When the board starts droppin' names, things get realy spicy!

What are the prizes?

  • Grande prize: $3,000.00

  • Multiple cash and gift prizes handed out throughout the evening
